Breathwork has its ROOTS in the eastern culture and ancient breathing practices had been around for thousands of years. Practiced in many cultures, back in the days the techniques were often hidden from the public. Only monks, spiritual leaders and other society and community rulers had access to it. Breathwork was considered something sacred and was practiced either in ceremonies, with the purpose of creating spiritual awakening, as well as in rituals, in order to mark important milestones for tribe members.
Today, SCIENCE shows in various studies that we can have an impact on our nervous system through our own breathing. We can regulate not just the heartbeat, but also our emotional state. Our breath is the steering wheel which makes this possible, it´s connected to our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Breathwork also develops new neural pathways in our brain and is used these days by:
